Welcome to the new look Festival Cairns.  For the last 47 years, in one way, shape or form, Council and community have always worked together on this, the city's annual celebration of who we are - our culture, our unique, tropical lifestyle, our talents, and our multi-cultural diversity.

This year we enter another new chapter, with Council now internally coordinating the city's festival through it's cultural services & facilities.  Working in conjunction with external Event Partners the 2009 program is an outstanding mix of 50+ free and ticketed events, combining visual art, music, dance, film, food, theatre and a selection of large, family friendly events - all locally coordinated - and crafted around the 2009 festival theme of "Telling Our Stories".
