Gavin King - Sunday Mail Journalist and Columnist

Gavin King started his writing career with music, art and culture street press publications in Sydney, becoming editor of weekly paper, Revolver, at the age 20. In 2003 he begain his mainstream newspaper career with News Limited paper The Centralian Advocate as its political reporter, later joining.The Cairns Post as business editor, and following that was appointed chief of staff.  His opinion column in The Weekend Post was loved and loathed in equal measure, and he has recently joined The Sunday Mail as its North Queensland correspondent, based in Cairns.

Jesse Kuch - Editor, Cairns Post’s TimeOUT and cairns.com.au/entertainment

Jesse is one of the young gun reporters at The Cairns Post, focussing on arts and entertainment.  He is    A long-time Cairns resident, Jesse is embedded in the local entertainment, art and live music scene both as spectator and participant, enjoying a successful musical career first in live bands and more recently as a DJ and label manager for internationally recognised Cairns dance label Open Records. Definitely not afraid to stay out late and party, Jesse is stoked to be part of the Festival Cairns Blogging Community.

Kier Shorey -  Breakfast Show presenter on ABC Far North (weekdays - 5am)

Kier was born and raised in Cairns but left to pursue an acting career, culminating in what The Courier Mail described as Brisbane’s Worst Play of 1990. He had better success as a screenwriter, with credits such as Neighbours, Pirate Islands and Crash Palace to his name. Kier also wrote and produced the short film Stop which screened in competition at Cannes, and co-wrote the feature film Blurred which earned him an AFI Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Simon Crerar - Cairns Post Online Editor

Simon Crerar is Online Editor at The Cairns Post, the local newspaper covering the city and Far North Queensland. Published continuously since 1888, the Post is the oldest business in Cairns, and currently employs 200 people.

A British journalist, Simon has worked as a reporter, commissioning and features editor on UK and Australian news, sport and arts desks. Before joining The Cairns Post, he was Arts & Entertainment editor at Times Online, the website of The Times and Sunday Times. He has reported from the Bafta Awards and the Cannes Film Festival, and created Sony Award-winning multimedia productions.

Nerissa Pace - ("Pacey" from the SEA FM Morning crew)

Pacey is a breakfast radio announcer who started her radio career as a journalist and newsreader on the Gold Coast before hosting an overnight talkback show. The graveyard shift didn’t agree with her so much so these days she wakes up to a blaring 4am alarm… which she often considers pegging at the wall…

Having lived in Sydney, the Gold Coast and the north coast of NSW and having travelled to various overseas destinations including Thailand, the UK, Barcelona, Rome, Malta (the birthplace of her father) and her favourite - New York City - she now happily calls Cairns home. And she loves Cairns at festival time. Pacey can be heard from 5:30 each weekday morning on 99.5 Sea FM.

Timi Arnott

Timi Arnott, aka “Cairns’ own Perez Hilton in the making” has been a media industry contributor since 2005. Oh yes, his famous days working as a “coffee-boy” for the local radio station have long gone!

Currently rolling out a number of his own personal projects this year, Timi is also a Freelance Journalist for several Australian publications. “I'm pumped to be a part of the festival again this year...it’s set to be a killer event in 2010...Cairn’s usual style of course!” he says.
