Simon Crerar

Simon Crerar is Online Editor at The Cairns Post, the local newspaper covering the city and Far North Queensland. Published continuously since 1888, the Post is the oldest business in Cairns, and currently employs 200 people.

A British journalist, Simon has worked as a reporter, commissioning and features editor on UK and Australian news, sport and arts desks. Before joining The Cairns Post, he was Arts & Entertainment editor at Times Online, the website of The Times and Sunday Times. He has reported from the Bafta Awards and the Cannes Film Festival, and created Sony Award-winning multimedia productions.

A trained art historian brought up in Edinburgh, Simon digs the arts big time. Presently, he’s particularly excited by Pacific reggae, favela architecture and the orchestral possibilities of the vuvuzela. Give him the keys to Frida Kahlo’s La Casa Azul or Salvador Dali’s Portlligat in Cadaqués and he'll die a happy man.
